Having already spotted the 2017 Audi S4 sedan running a few hot laps around the Nordschleife, we now have spy shots of its roomier, more practical and quite possibly, prettier Avant brethren.
Too bad we don’t know if Audi plans to change its stance on station wagons in North America, as the only estate that comes to the States right now is the A4 in a quasi-crossover Allroad form.
The rest of the world will get the next S4 Avant featuring a tweaked version of the current car's 3.0-liter supercharged V6 bumped to around 340 to 360-horses, up from 328hp (333PS). Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system and an s-tronic twin-clutch transmission will help put those horses on the road.
You can tell that there's something different going on with this A4 Avant from the modified front bumper with the larger side air inlets, the pinched rocker panels, bigger wheels and brakes, and of course, the quad pipes residing inside the rear diffuser.
As with most Avant models, the new S4 has a sleek profile the nicely covers the added height and additional cargo space over the sedan model with which it shares the same lighter MLB platform that utilizes a mixture of aluminum and steel.
Look for the S4 Avant in European showrooms next year.
