EU-Spec Ford Mustang GT Sprints To 100 KM/H In 4.8 Sec, EcoBoost Turbo In 5.8 Sec

Ford has released performance specs and fuel economy figures for the EU-spec all-new Mustang, which will reach dealerships in continental Europe from July.

With 421PS (415hp) and 530Nm (391lb-ft) of torque, the new V8-powered Ford Mustang GT is the fastest accelerating high-volume Ford model ever offered in Europe.

With the help of the available Launch Control technology, the fastback model with six-speed manual transmission goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds - only the low-volume Ford GT supercar launched in 2005 was quicker.

The only other engine option that will be offered in Europe is the 2.3-liter EcoBoost. Rated at 317PS (313hp) and 432Nm (319lb-ft) of torque, the entry-level Mustang does 0-100 km/h (62mph) in a respectable 5.8 seconds (fastback with manual transmission). The EcoBoost model is also the most fuel-efficient, averaging 8 l/100 km (35.3 mpg UK or 29.4 mpg US), with corresponding CO2 emissions of 179 g/km. The V8-powered model averages 12 l/100 km (23.5 mpg UK or 19.6 mpg US) and emits 281 g of CO2 per kilometer in combination with the automatic transmission.

Ford says performance and driving dynamics have been tuned to meet European driving expectations. All models are offered with a standard Performance Pack in Europe that delivers uprated brakes and cooling for high-speed driving. Other standard features include 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, a rear diffuser, dual-zone climate control, a nine-speaker sound system and SYNC 2 voice control connectivity with 8-inch color touch screen.

More than 2,200 customers in Europe have ordered the new Mustang fastback and convertible.
